Not bad food but nothing to be wowed about. The place looks like exactly what it is, a dinner. Old decorations, old tables, fans above. I ordered the eggs, bacon and pancakes. Eggs were a bit oily, bacon was thin and crispy and pancakes were ok. Would not come back unless I absolutely had too.

Stay away from this place until colder weather. No AC all summer, extremely uncomfortably hot. Too hot to enjoy a meal, unbelievable!!

I went for breakfast/brunch this past Sunday. It was fairly busy. Table turn over time was spot on. But the food was the worst. I ordered the Vermonter Skillet : Apples, cheddar cheese, onions, home fries and bacon with 2 poached eggs - the entire thing was dripping with grease and the eggs were overcooked to the point of being hard. I was unimpressed. The waitress didn't do anything, except ask if my eggs were okay... which give me the impression that she knew they were over cooked. She didn't smile, tell us the specials, check in on us or clear dirty plates. Won't go there again.

There were a lot of negative reviews here but i think this is a new owner. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. A young college student. The food was hot and freshly made. Typical diner fare but done well. My husband had roast turkey with stuffing. The turkey was real turkey not deli meat and the gravy was homemade. My husband liked it and the salad that came with it. I had a cheeseburger and it came cooked exactly as i asked with nice fresh lettuce and plump tomatoes. The french fries were hand cut and cooked perfectly. They give you plenty of food so i had no room for dessert. I think the desserts are homemade also; pies and puddings. Am definitely eating here again.

Not impressed! Burgers were overly compressed and hard fatty grits. Onion rings were thin and tasteless. Hair found in food. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE! I should have stayed home and had left overs!

A nice little all-day breakfast diner. I usually go for the chicken tenders here, extra spicy. The quality can be spotty though. The last few times I ordered take out, the tenders were soggy and not at all spicy. The onion rings have been sub par lately as well. The breakfast dishes are quite good but not especially great. The service is attentive and friendly. Good portions on the breakfast food and the eating area is fairly clean for a diner. There's not a lot of parking but it seems to support a quick in quick out kind of crowd.

I come to this area a few times a year for work for a couple days at a time. Ate here last time I was in town but thought I'd give them another try. Worse than before. Waitresses are friendly enough but the food is pretty bad. I was tired of fast food so thought I would try the chicken lunch plate. It came with 4 pieces of the scrawniest, over cooked chicken I have ever had. So over cooked that the batter was almost black on the smaller pieces. Runny ,luke warm instant mashed potatoes ,and cold out of the can veggies. Wasn't much for $12.00. Last time in I had the open faced turkey. You could tell the gravy was canned and the meat had been frozen. It will keep you from starving to death but other than that I can find no redeeming qualities for this place. I think I'll try the place across the street tomorrow.

I have been here twice. Both times I was not impressed. No hostess to help you find a table, just sit where you want and someone will find the time to come help you. Drinks came relatively fast, however it took a while for the waitress to come back to take our order. The waitress was friendly but very distracted. She was cleaning random things while our food was cooking. When the food came out she did not return to us until it was time to give us the bill. The food is typical for this type of place however I did not find that the portion size was enough to fill me. Overall there are better places to go than St Albans Diner. Would I go there again? Maybe if my friends wanted to go but not on my own.

I waited on this review. I was not impressed with the first visit and the second visit didn't help matters. The kid's pancake was the best thing about the whole visit. Real Vermont Maple Syrup is an extra charge. Really? We are in Vermont for heaven's sake!! But you can have the fake stuff for free...unless you need more than the little cupful they give you. The fries were decent. The scrambled eggs and homefries were much improved with an application of catsup, salt and pepper. The first time I had an omelette and it was meh. But it is diner food....and that is what you get....nothing special. Some servers are nicer than others...especially if you are a regular...and we are still new to town. ;) They were reasonably busy so maybe other people have had better experiences. My husband wants to emphasis that it is a Diner...and that you do get exactly that....diner food....nothing especially memorable.

We went there today (Easter Sunday), and it was 12:30pm, and there were only 2 other sets of customers in the other table/booths. The place across the street was packed with cars. The coffee was not that good, and the food was okay, but nothing to brag about. The coleslaw was very coarse and not that good. We had gone there about a year before, and this place has gone downhill quite a bit. We had heard (and today saw with our own eyes), that when they wash the tables, they only use water, and that's exactly what they did today. We have heard other things negative, but will not state what we heard as we did not witness first hand. The menu has a LOT of items on it, but based on the lack of customers, I don't know how they can have such a large inventory on hand when the demand does not seem that great. The price on what we paid was not the best value. Won't come here again.

Food was typical diner food, so I would rate that as a three. Service was barely ok. The wait to get our breakfast was an hour and a half- horrendous for breakfast! We ordered and forty-five minutes later they came out to tell us they were out of one of the breakfast specials... Another 10 minutes to replace that order and another 35 minutes to get our food. Never again.

It is essentially the same, but I think they wrote that last review themselves. The portions are rather small if you ask me. I actually took a picture of the orange juice. Granted I ordered a small, but shot glasses are still not an apropriate serving size. If they didn't give us a deal on the whole meal, I would not recommend them. Go to KJ's if you ask me. much larger portions and I spent the exact same price. Before my tip of course.. I think they did a better job. So they get a better tip.
